Seed-Propagated Summer Apples: Great Morphological and Biochemical Diversity
نویسندگان
چکیده
The northeastern Anatolia region of Turkey is one the richest plant biodiversity areas in Turkey. This study describes some important tree and fruit characteristics 20 seed-propagated summer apple genotypes from using morphological biochemical markers. were evaluated morphologically for growth habit, ripening date, weight, firmness, shape, color, taste, juiciness aroma. measured organic acids, SSC (soluble solid content), titratable acidity, vitamin C, total phenolic content antioxidant capacity. We found significant differences most characteristics. exhibited quite diverse harvest dates ranging 4 July to 16 August. Summer had weight between 101.9 g 133.5 g. shapes, including round, conic oblate, over colours such as pink, red, yellow green. Genotypes GUM7 GUM13 stood out SSC, present dissimilarity other genotypes. While first showed a lower average capacity, second revealed higher content, capacity SSC. Due their favorable characteristics, can be used further crosses with groups, which also

Diversity in a clonally propagated crop: morphological characters in garlic compared with existing molecular classifications
A subset of 113 garlic accessions from the Gatersleben genebank collection was characterised using 16 morphological characters. The characterisation data were used for principal components and cluster analyses. Comparisons with existing RAPD and isozyme classifications were performed and gave high correlations especially in cases of the ophioscorodon and sativum groups. The morphological charac...
متن کاملThe Great Negawatts Debate: Apples Oranges and horned Toads
No advocate has had a greater influence on the changing orientation of U.S. utilities toward energy efficiency even the terms we use to talk about it than Amory Lovins. Lovins" projections for the savings to be mined through energy efficiency have always challenged what many in the industry saw as practicable. His vision of the equivalency and even superiority of energy efficiency to convention...
متن کاملSeed Number and an Asymmetry Index of 'McIntosh' Apples
In ‘McIntosh’ apples (Malus domestica Borkh.), the number of well-formed seeds and the number of fertilized ovules (well-formed plus aborted seeds) were correlated to yield an index of asymmetry for individual fruit. In spite of different flowering and pollination conditions in 1990 and 1991, the index of asymmetry decreased curvilinearly with increases in the number of well-formed seeds and of...
متن کاملBiomechanical, biochemical, and morphological mechanisms of heat shock-mediated germination in Carica papaya seed
Carica papaya (papaya) seed germinate readily fresh from the fruit, but desiccation induces a dormant state. Dormancy can be released by exposure of the hydrated seed to a pulse of elevated temperature, typical of that encountered in its tropical habitat. Carica papaya is one of only a few species known to germinate in response to heat shock (HS) and we know little of the mechanisms that contro...
